You don’t get a much better success story than being featured on Jay Leno’s Garage! That’s what happened with Don Atkinson’s 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS “G-Code.” Atkinson took the car to Ringbrothers for some unique modifications. As part of this car’s transformation, they installed a Tremec six-speed transmission built by Bowler.
The “G-Code” Camaro started with a Chevrolet LS3 motor. The Ringbrothers gave it a Whipple supercharger and an increase in displacement to 416 cubic inches. Now it boasts nearly 1,000 horsepower! That’s a whole lot of power to put down, which is why they chose a Bowler-built Tremec. During the episode, you’ll hear the Ringbrothers assure Jay that the Bowler transmission has no problem handling that many ponies!
This custom Camaro was built for more than just straight-line speed, too. Mike and Jim Ring gave it a full suspension setup to make sure it was equally capable through the corners. It now has massive Baer brakes, too, in order to bring it down from the triple-digit speeds it’s capable of. The custom wheels and beautiful interior tie together this amazing project car that has the spirit of a ‘69 Camaro with some totally unique flair.
