1969 Dodge Charger “Defector”
“Defector” the 1969 Dodge Charger by Ringbrothers made an appearance at last month’s SEMA 2017 show. Ringbrothers put over 4,700 hours of hard work into this stunning classic Mopar with original styling cues and modifications to convey a factory appearance. Builders Mike and Jim Ring started out with a Charger body that they obtained locally. They then shortened it overall by two inches through the trunk area and then extended the wheel base by three inches. Other body modifications include lengthening the side rockers and lowering and extending the quarter panels.
Below the body sits a Detroit Speed Hydroformed Subframe with rack and pin steering, front sway bars, and four-link rear suspension. The exterior paint is a custom Glasurite color named “Greener on the other side.” Further body modifications were performed by Advanced Plating which includes some of the detailed chrome work you can see throughout the car. Wheels are custom HRE Wheels with custom Ringbrothers hubcaps, and tires are Michelin 285x35x19 in the front and 345x35x19 in the back.
This green 1969 Dodge Charger is powered by a 6.4L Hemi V8 engine from Wegner Motorsports and mated to a Bowler 4L80E transmission. Engine temperatures are maintained with coolant from Prestone, and Flowmaster exhaust and headers give this Charger a great performance sound. The interior maintains a retro look that continues the exterior’s classic style, with a few modern touches. Some of the interior features include custom seats from Upholstery Unlimited, beautiful wood trim, Classic Instrument gauges, a Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum Evap Kit, and an Apline sound system. “Defector” makes for another awesome build from Ringbrothers.
