For 700-R4 & 200-4R Transmission Are you tired of the trial and error method of adjusting your TV cable on your 700-R4 and 200-4R transmission? The crew at Bowler Performance Transmission sure was! That's why they developed their own kit to solve this problem. When you purchase one of Bowler's Tru-Shift systems you will get the easiest and best functioning TV cable adjusting system available. When you install this system you simply bolt on the supplied bracket and carburetor cam assembly, install the Bowler TV cable, then run the accelerator to wide open throttle. The cable will automatically adjust itself and you're done. With this system there is no need to remove the carburetor, no cams to adjust, no need to drop the transmission pan, no need to install a pressure gauge to check the pressures and best of all - no more guessing. Bowler even includes different throttle cable brackets to cover Lokar, Gennie, GM square and early round hole. Each one attaches neatly to the supplied bracket. We have kits available for Holley, Edelbrock, FiTech TBI, Demon, MSD & Quickfuel Carburetors.

700 R4 conversion

I am a classic car shop in CT. I have installed several of these transmissions in cars and always had trouble with the TV cable adjustments. I did them with shift feel, but always skeptical of ruining a customer's transmissions. I saw an ad for this kit in Street Scene magazine and decided to try one. The first one was in a 38 Chevy coupe, street rod. It worked so good I just installed one in a 64 Chevelle with a 383 stroker engine. The results were the same, they both shifted like a normal car.

200-4R Trans in a 38 Chev Street Rod

I took a T-350 trans out of this car for a customer and installed a 200-4R. I bought all kinds of brackets but could never get it to shift right. I saw an ad in Street Scene magazine for the Bowler kit. I just installed it and can't believe how much nicer this car is now. I am ordering another one for a 64 Chevelle with a 200-4R in it.

Totally different car now

Kit has totally transformed the performance of the 700R4 in my 3rd gen camaro. The engine is GMPP 350 HO, with a Holley carb. The 700 was pro-built with HD components. There was always something off with when and how the 700 would shift, even with the "appropriate" TV cable corrector kit from Holley.
Immediately after installing the Bowler kit, the 700 finds the right gear while cruising, passing and hard launches.
The only downside is I had to remove the throttle kicker solinoid for the Air Conditioning - which I'll have to revisit next summer.
I found that all the components in the Bowler kit are extremely well made - the price of it is justified.
I wish I purchased it sooner.

Geometry is kinda important

My engine is a basic small block Chevy with a basic Edelbrock 4 barrel. Every other bracket available for the TV cable was flimsy, or had so many adjustable points on it that I would have preferred to fabricate my own and that was an option I wasn’t thrilled with. This kit made everything so easy, if you have access to your transmission, it’s minutes to install this kit. Perfect for street rods.
